The External Extruder PTFE Tube is the replacement filament guide component dedicated to Volumic Stream series FDM printers. The PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) tube guides the filament from the extruder output to the hotend inlet, in the section external to the extrusion carriage.
PTFE is chosen for its very low friction coefficient, good chemical resistance, and resistance to high temperatures: these characteristics ensure consistent filament feed without extrusion jolts or material accumulation, which is critical on machines operating in serial production or with flexible materials sensitive to feed stress.
Implementation
The tube is fitted into its push-fit connector following the procedure documented by Volumic in its online technical support, with the machine switched off and the hotend cooled. Replacement is recommended in cases of blockage, internal marking by a filled filament, or during a preventive maintenance operation on the extruder. Multiple lengths are available in the range depending on the printer model and the tube position in the guidance chain (external or internal section).
