The NTC 100k - 115 mm Thermistor is the replacement thermal sensor for Prusa Research FDM printers equipped with a Nextruder extruder (MK4, MK3.9, CORE One ranges). It provides real-time measurement of the heater block or heatsink temperature, a fundamental value used by the firmware to regulate the heating element and trigger the machine's thermal safety mechanisms.
Of NTC type (negative temperature coefficient), with a nominal resistance of 100 kΩ, this sensor conforms to the profile expected by Prusa firmwares, ensuring controlled regulation without software recalibration on reassembly. Depending on the printer model, this thermistor is also used to monitor the heatsink temperature on the XL.
Implementation
Replacement is carried out in the event of an inconsistent reading, a thermal error during printing, or physical sensor failure (wire break, loss of insulation). The operation is performed with the printer switched off and the hotend cooled, following the procedure documented on the Prusa knowledge base (help.prusa3d.com), by selecting the relevant printer model and following the corresponding repair manual. The product is supplied with its M3×4 locking screw ready to install. After reassembly, verify the consistency of the cold-start reading and perform a PID tune to validate the stability of thermal regulation.
