The Double-Drive Bearings Pack is a replacement part dedicated to the filament drive axis of double-drive extruders fitted on Volumic FDM printers of the Stream 30, SH, and EXO series, in their Standard, Plus, IDRE, and Performance variants. The pack includes two stainless steel ball bearings to mount on the extruder drive axis.
On a double-drive system, two synchronised knurled wheels grip the filament to provide positive, slip-free drive. The bearings support the radial and axial loads generated by filament traction and the stepper motor torque. Periodic replacement is part of preventive maintenance for extruders in series production.
Implementation
Replacement is carried out when the bearings show play, stiffness, or rough movement, or in the event of extrusion irregularities not attributable to the hotend or filament. The operation is performed with the printer switched off and the extruder removed from the carriage, following the procedure documented by Volumic in its online technical support. A post-reassembly check is required: the axis must turn freely without stiffness, and the double-drive tension must be recalibrated to ensure consistent drive without filament deformation.
