Printing behaviour
rPLA prints at a nozzle temperature of 205 ± 10 °C on a heated build plate at 50 ± 10 °C, without a closed enclosure, on a smooth, textured or satin PEI sheet. It exhibits low warping and great ease of printing, comparable to standard PLA.
Its mechanical properties are close to those of classic PLA, with a slightly more brittle and more hygroscopic material. The colouring comes from processed organic waste (e.g. red algae), so the tint is unique to each batch and the organic additives emit a perceptible but non-toxic odour during printing. rPLA is not recommended for parts exposed to high temperatures or high mechanical stresses.
Traceability and storage
Each spool integrates a rewritable NFC tag conforming to the OpenPrintTag standard (offline operation, multi-brand) and a QR code providing access to batch manufacturing parameters at prusament.com. As PLA is slightly hygroscopic, store the spool dry with a desiccant after opening; drying according to the Prusa procedure is recommended in the event of moisture absorption.
