PA11 is a technical polyamide mainly used in SLS, rarely offered for FDM. It sits between PA6, very hygroscopic and difficult to print, and PA12, which adheres poorly to standard beds and warps significantly on cooling.
This 800 g spool is equipped with the NFC OpenPrintTag, read automatically by the printer to set the material parameters.
Printing behavior
A dedicated print sheet or separating layer is required, as PA11 adheres poorly to standard surfaces once cooled. The material remains hygroscopic and requires drying before use, although it absorbs less moisture than PA6 or PA12. Printing releases odors, an enclosure with active filtration is recommended.
Shrinkage remains noticeable, a point of attention on larger parts.
Mechanical and chemical properties
The material offers good impact and abrasion resistance with a low friction coefficient, suitable for printing gears and moving parts. Its chemical resistance covers bases, alcohols, toluene, acetone and hydrocarbons (gasoline, diesel, motor oil).
After annealing, heat resistance reaches 122.5°C. The tensile anisotropy coefficient, measured at 0.84 on the Prusa CORE One+, is the highest in the Prusament range.
