The Prusa Nextruder Silicone Sock Set is a pack of three silicone socks for the Nextruder extrusion system developed by Prusa Research. Each sock wraps around the heater block and nozzle to thermally insulate them and protect them from molten filament splatter.
The use of these socks helps stabilise the temperature at the extrusion point, limit the build-up of material residue on the heater block, and maintain hotend cleanliness in series production.
Implementation
Installation is carried out only when cold, with the hotend disassembled or the printer switched off and cooled, to avoid any risk of burns: the sock is slid manually around the heater block after cleaning the nozzle and block. The fit must be adjusted to avoid obstructing the hotend fan or interfering with build plate probing. Prusa Research provides the installation procedure on its online knowledge base, to be selected according to the printer model.
