Build plate for the Volumic EXO65 3D printer, made of a flexible steel sheet coated with textured PEI (ULTEM) on both sides. It sits directly on the machine's magnetic base, in place of the glass-ceramic plate.
The textured surface ensures first-layer grip and leaves an even grain on the underside of parts. The plate is reversible: when the first side becomes smooth and loses adhesion, the second side takes over.
Installation and use
Thinner than the glass-ceramic plate, the PEI plate requires a bed calibration after fitting. If the nozzle remains too high, the endstop blades must be replaced with those supplied with the plate. Parts are removed once the plate has fully cooled, flexing it slightly if needed. Regularly check that no residue sits between the heated bed and the coating.
