The smooth PEI sheet is a spring steel sheet coated with smooth PEI on both sides, designed for Original Prusa MK series and CORE One printers. It is held on the MK52 heatbed by high Curie temperature magnets and can be removed to release the parts.
The smooth PEI surface adheres to most materials and leaves a smooth bottom face on printed parts. Prusa recommends it in particular for PLA and for parts with small details resting on the bed.
Use and maintenance
Before printing PETG, the manufacturer advises against cleaning with IPA and states that a separation agent may be required. For flexible filaments, a layer of glue stick is required.
Marks left by the nozzle or tools, shinier than the rest of the surface, do not affect adhesion. They fade by gently rubbing the area with the abrasive side of a sponge. The colour of the steel may vary (black, gold, green) with no change to the surface properties.
