The MK1/MK2/ULTRA Extruder Motor is a replacement stepper motor dedicated to the extruders of Volumic FDM printers in the first and second-generation Stream range, as well as the Stream 30 Ultra. Its function is to drive the filament through the heater block at the flow rate imposed by the firmware, a critical operation for extrusion consistency and the dimensional quality of produced parts.
This reference is also used for the X-axis of the Stream MK1 and MK2 range, making it a versatile maintenance part to keep in stock in workshops operating a multi-machine fleet of these generations.
Implementation
Replacement is carried out when the motor exhibits missed steps, abnormal heating, insufficient torque, or unusual mechanical noise, or in the event of extrusion irregularities not attributable to the hotend, mechanical extruder, or filament. The operation is performed with the printer switched off, following the procedure documented by Volumic in its online technical support. After reassembly, an extrusion test and E-step calibration are required to validate consistent flow; for X-axis use, check belt tension and the absence of play at end stops.
