Applications in 3D printing
In resin printing, IPA is used as a wash bath for freshly printed parts to dissolve uncured residual resin before the UV post-cure step, in washing stations such as Form Wash, Anycubic Wash & Cure, Elegoo Mercury, etc. It is also used to clean resin vats, build plates, and tooling that comes into contact with resin.
In FDM, it is used to degrease build plates (glass, smooth or textured PEI, spring steel sheets) between cycles to restore first-layer adhesion. In SLS, it is used to clean optics and internal machine surfaces during maintenance operations.
Precautions and storage
Highly flammable liquid: keep away from all sources of heat, hot surfaces, sparks, or open flames. Use in a well-ventilated area with appropriate PPE (nitrile gloves, goggles, respiratory protection for prolonged use). Avoid prolonged skin contact and inhalation of vapours. Store in a sealed container, away from sunlight. Dispose of residues in accordance with applicable hazardous waste regulations.
