Function and use
The PTFE tube guides the filament inside the hotend, between the entry point and the melt zone. Polytetrafluoroethylene has a very low coefficient of friction, which reduces resistance to filament feed and promotes smooth extrusion.
As a wear part, it should be replaced periodically; a deformed or scored tube can cause extrusion defects. Installation follows the procedure in the Prusa repair manual for the relevant printer model.
Dimensions
The tube has a length of 42.3 mm (tolerance ± 0.2 mm), an inner diameter of 1.85 mm suited to filament passage, and an outer diameter of 4 mm. These dimensions are specific to the hotend of the MK3S+ and MK3S+ with MMU2S.
