The hotend fan cools the heatsink of the Original Prusa MINI and MINI+. It limits heat creeping up from the heater block towards the cold zone, where the filament has to stay rigid to be driven properly.
As a wear part, it is replaced as part of routine machine maintenance. A fan that slows down, turns noisy or stops leads to a clogged hotend during printing.
Cable and connector
The cable is 780 mm long and ends in a 3-pin Molex connector, part number 50-57-9403, identical to the one on the original part, so no rewiring is required. Prusa publishes the removal and refitting procedure in the MINI/+ repair manual, available from its knowledge base. The item ships as a single unit.
