The 40 W - 120 mm Heater is the replacement heating cartridge for the Nextruder extruder fitted on the latest-generation Prusa Research FDM printers (MK4, MK3.9, CORE One ranges). Its function is to transfer electrical power to the heater block to bring the melt zone to the target temperature set by the firmware, a critical point for consistent extrusion flow.
Rated at 40 W at 24 V, this cartridge conforms to the thermal profile expected by Prusa firmwares, ensuring controlled heating behaviour without software modification on reassembly. Its 120 mm cable length matches the original wiring routing on the Nextruder.
Implementation
Replacement is carried out in the event of a heating failure, a thermal error during printing, contact loss, or localised overheating. The operation is performed with the printer switched off and the hotend cooled, following the procedure documented on the Prusa knowledge base (help.prusa3d.com), by selecting the relevant printer model and following the corresponding repair manual. The product is supplied with the M3×4 locking screws required for installation. After reassembly, perform a PID tune to validate the thermal regulation of the cartridge/block pair, and check the temperature reading consistency at cold start.
