Francofil PLA is extruded from polymerised corn starch, with a high pigment loading that produces dense, even colour on presentation parts. Its 190 to 230 °C extrusion range and cool bed make it usable on an open machine, with no enclosure or filtration.
The 1 kg spool comes in 1.75 and 2.85 mm, covering standard machines as well as fleets running large diameter, where PLA remains the reference material for rapid prototyping and inspection fixtures.
Printing behaviour
Limited shrinkage allows wide parts without lifting, including on a lightly heated bed. The glass transition measured at 57,5 °C sets the service limit, a part left in a vehicle interior or near a heat source deforming above that temperature.
Processing
The speed range documented by the manufacturer runs from 30 to 100 mm/s, the mechanical values below being measured on specimens printed with a 0.4 mm nozzle. PLA does not wear brass nozzles, which avoids moving to steel for routine use. BVOH, Breakaway and PVA soluble supports can be used in dual material.
