Ultracur3D® RG 35 is a technical urethane photopolymer resin developed by BASF Forward AM, positioned by the manufacturer in the "Rigid" and "High Temp" categories. The medium-viscosity, highly reactive formulation targets rigid functional parts combining good dimensional stability, elevated thermal resistance and low water absorption.

The resin is available in several colours. The cured part exhibits a tensile modulus of 2600 MPa, a tensile strength of 80 MPa and a Shore D hardness of 85.

Thermal and electrical performance

Heat deflection temperature (HDT) reaches 83 °C at 0.45 MPa and 64 °C at 1.82 MPa. UL 94 fire rating at 1.5 mm is HB, complemented by a glow-wire flammability index (GWFI 650 °C / 2.0 mm to DIN EN 60695-2-11) and a dielectric strength of 37 kV/mm. Water absorption over 24 hours remains limited to 0.33 %, contributing to long-term dimensional stability of parts.

Mechanical behaviour and applications

Flexural strength reaches 110 MPa (modulus 2400 MPa) with an elongation at break of 6 %. Notched Izod impact gives 23 J/m at 23 °C and 11 J/m at -30 °C, with an unnotched Izod of 115 J/m and a notched Charpy of 0.6 kJ/m², consistent with a rigid material subject to low deformation. The resin is intended for automotive housings, jigs and assembly fixtures, moulds and inserts, and moulded electrical parts. ISO 10993 biocompatibility data are available on request.

About BASF

Origine : Allemagne
