Properties and applications
ABS is a durable, strong polymer with a glossy appearance. The Performance formulation reduces odours during printing, making it easier to use in a workshop. The material is suited to device housings and gears, containers, electrical sockets and enclosures, and many industrial components.
Prolonged sun exposure weakens ABS: it is not recommended for outdoor applications.
Printing behaviour and post-treatment
Printing remains straightforward, but ABS is prone to warping: using a heated bed, and preferably an enclosed chamber, limits part deformation. Suitable ventilation is recommended to clear fumes.
In post-treatment, parts can be treated with acetone to smooth the surface and enhance gloss, observing the safety precautions associated with this solvent.
