Prusament PETG is a professional filament manufactured in-house by Prusa Research in the Czech Republic, available in several opaque and transparent colours. Each spool meets a controlled dimensional tolerance of ±0.02 mm throughout production, guaranteeing consistent extrusion on 1.75 mm FDM printers.

PETG (polyethylene terephthalate glycol) combines the mechanical strength and durability of a technical polyester with processing characteristics close to PLA: low shrinkage, low thermal deformation, and good interlayer adhesion. More flexible and less brittle than PLA, it offers a slight flex that is useful for parts subject to stress or moderate impact.

Printing behaviour

The filament prints at 250 ±10 °C on a heated build plate at 80 ±10 °C, without the need for an enclosed chamber. Its very low shrinkage allows the printing of large parts without risk of detachment or warping. The high interlayer adhesion makes it suited to functional parts subject to mechanical stress, technical supports, and applications requiring indoor or outdoor sealing.

PETG exhibits a tendency to string: pre-drying the filament and appropriate retraction settings help limit this phenomenon. The reproduction of fine details remains inferior to PLA and long bridges are less well controlled. Conversely, the material sands more easily than PLA during post-processing operations.

NFC identification and traceability

Spools are fitted with a fully rewritable OpenPrintTag NFC tag, storing material data offline and usable by compatible printers or via the Prusa mobile app. A QR code on the spool gives access to production parameters for each batch (measured tolerance, batch number, manufacturing date) on prusament.com, for complete traceability in series production.
