Prusament PETG Carbon Fiber Black is a carbon-fibre-reinforced PETG filament manufactured in-house by Prusa Research in the Czech Republic. The carbon fibre fill improves dimensional stability, temperature resistance and elastic modulus compared with standard PETG, while also significantly reducing stringing.

Each spool meets a controlled dimensional tolerance of ±0.02 mm on diameter, monitored at the exit of the extrusion line. The incorporated carbon fibres originate from the recycling of industrial waste and end-of-life carbon composites.

Printing behaviour

PETG-CF extrudes at 265 °C on a heated build plate at 90 °C, with a textured or satin sheet recommended for adhesion. As the material is abrasive, a hardened nozzle is required to avoid premature wear of the extrusion tip.

Printing is virtually odourless and interlayer adhesion remains strong. The surface finish is matt black. Detail resolution is lower than PLA, and raw mechanical strength is slightly lower than unfilled PETG — the usual trade-off for a carbon-filled composite.

NFC identification and packaging

Since October 2025, Prusament spools incorporate a rewritable NFC tag compliant with the OpenPrintTag standard, designed to operate offline across different printer ecosystems. Material data is stored directly on the tag and readable via the Prusa mobile app. The redesigned, more compact spool features a locking mechanism that facilitates use in multi-material systems and filament drying.
