Prusament PC Blend Carbon Fiber is a technical filament manufactured in-house by Prusa Research, based on polycarbonate reinforced with recycled carbon fibres from the production process. This formulation delivers increased rigidity, good dimensional stability and a high service temperature compared with unfilled PC Blend, while remaining easier to print.

Each spool meets a controlled dimensional tolerance of ±0.04 mm. Production parameters for each batch (measured diameter, ovality, colour) are accessible online via the QR code on the spool. The filament is available in several colours.

Printing behaviour

PCCF prints at 285 °C with a heated build plate at 110 °C, without the need for an enclosed chamber thanks to limited shrinkage that allows large models to be printed. A satin or powder-coated TXT steel sheet gives good adhesion; on smooth PEI, apply a thin layer of glue stick to protect the surface.

Use of a hardened steel nozzle is mandatory: carbon fibres are abrasive and quickly wear out a brass nozzle. The filament does not require pre-drying before printing.

Applications

PCCF is intended for technical parts requiring mechanical strength, rigidity and a service temperature up to 114 °C, raised to 130 °C after annealing. It also offers good UV stability and resistance to common chemicals, with a matt surface finish. It is suited to functional components, supports, fixings, workshop tooling and jigs subject to moderate thermal stresses. Note that it remains slightly more brittle than unfilled PC Blend.
