The VS30 textured magnetic PEI (ULTEM) build plate is a flexible print surface made from a spring steel sheet coated on both sides with textured PEI (polyetherimide, commercial name ULTEM). It installs on the original magnetic support of the relevant Volumic Stream printers and replaces or supplements the plate supplied with the machine.
The PEI coating provides proven adhesion for common FDM filaments during printing, while releasing the part once the plate has cooled and been flexed by hand, simplifying part removal without a scraper.
Installation
The plate is positioned directly on the machine's magnetic bed, without tools. Its reversible design allows switching to the second face in the event of wear or contamination of the first, doubling the useful life before replacement. Routine maintenance is carried out with IPA to degrease the surface between prints. Note: depending on the printer's original configuration, installation may require shortening the Z end-stop blades to maintain correct bed levelling.
Applications
The textured surface produces a matt, granular finish on the first layer, suited to functional parts, industrial prototypes, and technical objects where a non-mirror finish is desired on the plate face. The flexible nature of the steel sheet facilitates release of large or wide-footprint parts, avoiding mechanical stress on the printer's components.
