Printing behaviour
HARDFLEX Ultra prints at 235 °C on a build plate heated to 95 °C. Its Shore 83D hardness places it in the category of rigid TPUs, closer to a technical thermoplastic than a soft elastomer: extrusion is more stable than with Shore A TPUs, which simplifies passage through the melt chamber and allows use on a broader range of extruders.
The requirement for a heavily heated build plate does however mean the machine must be equipped with a high-temperature heated bed and, preferably, a stabilised enclosure to limit thermal differentials during printing of large parts.
Applications
A proven production-oriented formulation, this rigid TPU combines mechanical strength and thermal resistance for functional parts subject to repeated constraints: hard damping elements, technical stops, wear parts, structural supports, jigs, and industrial components requiring a combination of impact resistance and rigidity. It complements a range of Shore A flexible materials by providing significantly greater hardness, intermediate between standard TPUs and engineering thermoplastics.
