Bumper ULTRA is a high-performance semi-flexible filament developed by Volumic, with Shore 60D hardness, specifically positioned for the manufacture of impact-resistant objects. Its hardness places it between standard soft TPUs and rigid thermoplastics: it provides elastic deformation under impact, good tear resistance and rapid shape recovery after stress — properties sought for parts subject to repeated impacts or high dynamic loads.
Typical applications: bumpers, buffers, dampers, edge protectors, anti-vibration supports, protective casings, handling jigs. Several colours are offered in the range.
Printing behaviour
Bumper ULTRA prints at a recommended nozzle temperature of 230 °C on a heated build plate at 50 °C, with a brass or copper nozzle. Its strong build plate adhesion requires a sprayed plate (3DLac-type spray) to ensure clean removal at the end of printing without surface degradation. Processing difficulty is rated "easy" by the manufacturer, making it a consumable accessible even to operators not specialised in semi-flexible materials.
Storage and documentation
Store the spool in a dry environment, in a resealable bag with a desiccant after opening, to preserve extrusion properties (semi-flexible materials are sensitive to ambient humidity).
