The STANDARD/PLUS Heater Block (NON HD) is the replacement part dedicated to the melt zone of the Volumic Stream Ultra and Stream SC v2 extrusion printheads, fitted on all Standard and Plus FDM printers from the brand. Made from high-temperature (HT) nickel-plated copper, it maintains the filament at the correct melt temperature immediately upstream of the nozzle, a critical point for consistent extrusion flow.

The copper and nickel-plating combination offers high thermal conductivity combined with good corrosion and wear resistance: the block delivers improved thermal performance and greater longevity compared to a standard aluminium block, a direct advantage on series production machines operating across extended temperature ranges. This reference is however not compatible with high-flow (HD) printheads, which use a dedicated heater block.

Implementation

Replacement is required in the event of thermal degradation (deformation, non-cleanable deposits), filament leakage around the nozzle, or during a preventive maintenance operation on the hotend. The operation is performed with the printer switched off and the printhead cooled, following the procedure documented by Volumic in its online technical support; disassembly involves removing the nozzle, heating cartridge, and thermistor, which must be reinstalled with controlled torque and positioning. After reassembly, a PID tune and extrusion test are required to validate thermal regulation and consistent flow.
