Ultracur3D® ST 45 M from Forward AM (BASF) is a reactive urethane photopolymer belonging to the Tough range. Its formulation is optimised to combine high mechanical strength, long-term toughness and impact resistance, making it suited to printing functional parts subject to repeated loading.
The resin is designed for short exposure times in masked stereolithography and delivers a smooth surface finish directly from the vat. Several colours are available depending on the reference.
Processing
Ultracur3D ST 45 M is processed on DLP and LCD (MSLA) printers. Its rheology allows high print throughput and short cycle times in series production.
After printing, parts must be cleaned in a suitable solvent and then UV post-cured to achieve the target mechanical properties. The Shore D 80 hardness and elastic modulus of 2300 MPa position this material as an alternative to standard rigid resins when better impact resistance is required.
Applications
Ultracur3D ST 45 M is intended for functional parts requiring both dimensional accuracy and mechanical strength: technical housings, functional prototypes, highly detailed or textured parts, tooling and custom accessories. The heat deflection temperature of 73 °C allows service use above moderate ambient temperature, but falls short of the high-temp ranges dedicated to demanding thermal applications.
