Ultracur3D® RG 1100 is a technical urethane-based photopolymer resin developed by BASF Forward AM, positioned by the manufacturer in the "Rigid" and "High Temp" categories. The formulation targets mechanical properties comparable to those of injection-moulded thermoplastics commonly used in the automotive industry and other demanding sectors.

The resin is available in several colours. It combines high rigidity (tensile modulus of 3080 MPa, Shore D hardness of 85), good chemical resistance and documented long-term UV stability.

Thermal performance and mechanical behaviour

Heat deflection temperature (HDT) reaches 116 °C at 0.45 MPa and 84 °C at 1.82 MPa, making it one of the highest in the Ultracur3D range. UL 94 fire rating at 1.5 mm is HB. Tensile strength is 70 MPa with an elongation at break of 5 %, and flexural strength is 119 MPa (modulus 2880 MPa). Notched Izod impact at 23 °C comes out at 16 J/m and notched Charpy at 0.6 kJ/m², consistent with a rigid material subject to low deformation.

Applications

Water absorption over 24 hours is limited to 0.32 %, contributing to long-term dimensional stability of parts. The resin is intended for automotive industry connectors, demanding technical parts, external covers, and supports and housings requiring good thermal and chemical resistance.

About BASF

Origine : Allemagne
