The 0.4 mm nozzle cleaning needle is a maintenance accessory for clearing FDM printer nozzles whose extrusion channel has been blocked by a carbonised filament residue, an impurity, or a grain of filled material. The pack consists of three needles mounted on handles, allowing safe handling when working near the heater block.
Hot clearing – with the nozzle raised to its extrusion temperature – remains the safest method for removing a blockage without disassembling the hotend or damaging the channel bore, provided a needle of the correct diameter is used.
Application
The procedure is carried out with the nozzle held at the extrusion temperature of the filament concerned, using appropriate personal protective equipment (thermal gloves, pliers). The needle is inserted vertically into the channel to soften and dislodge the blockage, followed by a purge of fresh filament to clear the residues. The pack of three units allows for breakage or tip wear, which is common in repeated use, and ensures immediate tool availability in a serial production workshop.
