Prusament PC Blend is a premium polycarbonate filament manufactured in-house by Prusa Research, available in several colours. Its formulation is positioned as an engineering material for functional parts subject to high thermal and mechanical stresses, with a service temperature up to 113 °C and good cold-creep resistance.
Each spool meets a controlled dimensional tolerance of ±0.03 mm. A QR code gives access to detailed spool parameters (diameter, ovality, colour, mechanical properties) on prusament.com, for complete traceability in workshop and series production.
Printing behaviour
PC Blend prints at 275 ±10 °C on a heated build plate at 110 ±10 °C, with a satin steel sheet recommended by the manufacturer. An enclosed chamber or tall brim around the part is advised to limit shrinkage and warping, which are particularly pronounced on large parts despite improved dimensional stability compared with most polycarbonates on the market. The material has low moisture absorption, good electrical insulation properties, and contains no styrene (a non-toxic alternative to ASA). It is intended for advanced users; PLA or PETG is preferable for learning FDM printing.
Packaging and traceability
Recent spools are fitted with a fully rewritable OpenPrintTag NFC tag operating offline: the printer automatically recognises the spool and accesses essential material data without dependency on a cloud service or proprietary ecosystem. The redesigned spool incorporates a locking mechanism facilitating removal for use as a refill, and remains stable during filament drying at recommended temperatures. A filament length of approximately 330 m is obtained from a 900 g spool.
