Volumic PLA Ultra is an industrial-grade PLA filament formulated for professional applications requiring both ease of processing and extended mechanical performance. Its formulation combines flexibility comparable to ABS with excellent interlayer adhesion and a refined surface finish, broadening its application range to functional parts subject to moderate stress.
The material has a distinctive technical property: its annealing capability allows a glass transition temperature of 144 °C to be reached after post-print heat treatment, where standard PLA is limited to around 55–60 °C. The filament is available in several colours and spool weights to cover prototyping, short runs and presentation parts.
Printing behaviour
PLA Ultra prints at 210 °C at the nozzle, on a heated build plate at 50 °C. The manufacturer rates processing as very easy and build plate adhesion as strong, which simplifies session start-up and limits large-part lifting. The filament accepts all standard nozzle types without abrasivity constraints and does not require an enclosed chamber for the majority of geometries.
Post-processing and applications
Oven annealing transforms the material's crystalline structure, raising the Tg from the standard PLA value to 144 °C, enabling use in hot environments where standard PLA would creep. This characteristic opens use to functional parts exposed under engine covers, in hot technical rooms or in contact with moderate heat sources. Pre-annealing flexibility retains a progressive failure behaviour, distinct from brittle standard PLA, qualifying the material for mechanical prototypes, workshop jigs and end-use parts.
