Printing behaviour
PEKK-A extrudes between 370 and 380 °C on a heated bed of 110 to 125 °C, in a regulated chamber of 60 to 80 °C, at a speed of 20 to 40 mm/s. Its amorphous form and slow crystallisation rate make it easier to process than semi-crystalline PAEKs, but a high-temperature FDM printer with an enclosed chamber remains necessary.
Annealing after printing increases the rigidity of the material. Pre-drying is recommended, with the residual moisture content needing to remain below 1 %.
Properties and applications
With a glass transition temperature of 159 °C, a melting temperature of 308 °C and a maximum service temperature of 149 °C, PEKK-A combines thermal resistance, abrasion resistance and chemical stability on contact with hydrocarbons and fluids. Its low outgassing makes it suitable for vacuum environments, and these characteristics make it suitable for the aerospace, automotive, railway and medical sectors.
Store away from light, moisture and heat in order to preserve the product's properties.
