Printing behaviour

PEBA-S prints at an extrusion temperature of between 240 and 250 °C, on a bed heated to between 85 and 95 °C. The printing speed should remain moderate, of the order of 44 to 50 mm/s, and cooling can be disabled depending on part geometry in order to preserve inter-layer adhesion.

Although soft materials favour direct-drive extrusion, its formulation remains compatible with Bowden-type extruders at reduced speed. Pre-drying is advised, with the residual moisture content needing to remain below 1 % to ensure steady extrusion.

Properties and applications

A lightweight technical elastomer, PEBA-S combines high energy return and non-slip properties close to those of silicone, which sets it apart from other flexible filaments such as TPU. Its low-temperature resistance and its no-break impact resistance make it a material suited to the manufacture of soles, damping parts and sports equipment (cycling, golf, protective gear), as well as to the prototyping of soft components.

About Kimya
