Printing behaviour
Kimya ABS Kevlar is a composite material intended for applications requiring better mechanical strength and good resistance to friction. The addition of aramid fibres improves dimensional stability during printing and limits the shrinkage phenomena generally observed with conventional ABS.
This filament prints on an FDM machine fitted with a heated bed, ideally in an enclosed chamber in order to control thermal stresses. Its formulation also produces parts that are lighter than standard ABS while retaining properties suited to industrial uses and the manufacture of tooling.
Applications and
precautions for use
This material is used for producing maintenance parts, functional prototypes, jigs or components subjected to moderate mechanical stress. The aramid fibres provide better impact resistance and help reduce warping.
The material remains sensitive to moisture and UV. Storage in a dry environment is recommended in order to preserve extrusion performance. For printing, the use of an abrasion-resistant nozzle is advised owing to the presence of reinforcing fillers.
